Urban Roots along with Glen Oaks and the Chill Out have been working to improve the green spaces in Arden.  Over the past few months you may have had a knock at your door from our local development worker Lucy, as she has been out surveying the community on what they would like to see in the area.

It was suggested by lots of people that it would be a good idea to get Arden’s kids involved with the project so we went to Ashpark and St Vincent’s primaries, where we devised a ‘Guerrilla Gardening’ plan designed to add colour and beauty to the estate while helping to educate on subjects such as sustainability, recycling, local sourcing and using natural materials.   Every Wednesday the children will be taking part in a variety of education activities such as seed bombing, bulb and tree planting, and making lovely things out of locally sourced willow at a green spot near you!  We are hoping some of Arden’s other residents will want to get involved too.  If you would like to make a difference to your community and help the kids with the outdoor activities then please come along, everyone’s welcome.  Please email or phone for details.

We are also looking to start off a community garden in Arden in the future and we are hoping local residents will want to get involved and meet up regularly to come up with a plan.   There are a few ideas for spaces where everyone can gather,  socialise,  get to know their neighbours,  learn to grow, and save a fortune by having their own plot.  We can use the Chill Out to discuss and plan…if you are interested let us know.

To get involved with any of the projects or just for some more information please contact Lucy:
